The One Where I Start A Personal Blog

This is summer of 2012. The heat has been totally oppressive this year and if I were a believer in the Mayan prophecy that the world would end this year, then I would have surely said that 'this was it'! But it turns out sadly (err, happily!) that I am not, and I believe that there will be many more summers to come where the temperature rise in India would keep pace with India's growing inflation.
Weather report apart, so why this new blog yet again?
At this point, some of my good friends would exclaim that I start blogs even more frequently than Deepika Padukone changes her boyfriends. And unfortunately, that happens to be true also.
Well, writing a blog is akin to having a relationship affair. You know, you fall in love with a particular theme at the first thought, in a similar way, as you fall in love with a girl at first sight. Be it the beauty, or the figure, or the intellect, or the humor -whatever be the reason behind it, it is your imagination of your theme, that creates a liking for it. Then, silently you develop a crush for the girl. You feel the passion for your theme for the blog. And if you have been following me up to this point, then you know that, after this starts the painful process of wooing that 'dream lady'. You muse for hours what will be the name of your blog. Sometimes, the girl may be already committed. Sometimes, the blog name may be already taken. You pass through joys of discovering a great name but then ah! that disappointment!! when it is already someone's else.  Finally if you are lucky, you will do find yourself a girl, whom you like and is single. And that's when, after days of excitement, disappointment, and revelations, you do settle for a blog name, that you kind-of like and which is available. And even before you think, you hastily jump to register that blog name lest someone else takes away your love. After all they say, that in each second, Google gets 2 million hits and 250 babies are born all around the world (with 50 being in India itself). You don't risk being a loser, after coming so close, right? So you quickly press that 'Create blog' button and if so far, god grace is with you, congratulations! Your relationship kicks off!! Give it some time and long before you know, you are already committed to that girl and that blog. :-)
My case is a little weird. I was lucky to find excellent and beautiful themes for my blog, and not just one, but a pretty much handful. I totally fell in love with them. Had 'dates' mentioned for a few posts that I made on those blogs. But sadly, somewhere down the line, I found out that those blogs required 'high maintenance'.  Suddenly, a poor boy like me couldn't afford them anymore. I made such impressive starts, that expectations became too high. And with my creativity gone stale, I could not keep up and was dumped. Err! I mean, the blog was dumped.
So with the college over, and me still being single, this summer I was kind of hoping to start a new blog. After all, this is a kind of my last summer holidays, before I am sucked into the listless job-life with so many 'yet' unknown responsibilities (which now I am supposed to own! What an irony!!).
Anyways, I was cruising  through the blog names, when I suddenly found out that this blog address with my name was available!! Lucky me, huh? Wow! what a feeling it was!! Can't explain really that feeling when you get your name there in the Web these days, without the trailing date-of-births, or JEE rank or fancy 'nicknames'!!
So with the name available, and with all the leisure time that I have, I thought it was time for a serious relationship. The one where I do not need to pretend. The one where I do not need to write to impress. The one where I do not care to seek a following. The one where I can be just myself. Just Saket.
This blog exists because I do.
Signing off,
Saket
